ABOUT US

Patients diagnosed with cancer can visit our sunny, cozy and beautiful HOME OF THE PEOPLE WITH CANCER. We like to think of it as OUR HOME.
Voluntary work at the center is performed by patients,
psychologists, lawyers and oncologists. We try to be close to the
patient from the very moment he or she hears the bad diagnosis. The
center allows us the great opportunity to communicate our positive and
negative emotions in an environment where everyone is equal.
Our common problem makes barriers collapse regardless of social status.
We want to help as many people as possible who are diagnosed
with cancer - as well as their relatives - to accept the disease and
learn to live with it. The emphasis here is on the word LIVE.
The first helping hand extended to new visitors is to aid them in
getting over the shock of their diagnosis. This activity is entrusted
to volunteers who have managed to cope with their illness and are
willing to share their experiences.

Our dream is to support and take care of as many patients as possible!
At OUR HOME, we develop
activities to improve the psychological state of mind of new patients,
as well as that of patients in remission. We organize courses in art
therapy, yoga, dance and even self-education.
The Home of the people with cancer
was created at the initiative of Yana Georgieva, chairwoman of the
patient organization, and with the help of her relatives, friends and
peers.
Our Home became a reality thanks to the outstanding
support, active assistance, and direct involvement of the mayor of
Varna, Mr. Kiril Yordanov.
He is an amazing human being,
not only because of his public service, but because of his honesty,
kindness, and desire to exceed expectations. All that he does is done
with heartfelt enthusiasm and love.
The Home of the people with cancer in Varna was officially
opened by the First Lady of Bulgaria, Mrs. Zorka Parvanova, and the
mayor of Varna, Mr. Kiril Yordanov, on August 15th 2003, the Day of
Varna.
